Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters statement on innovation superclusters

October 10, 2017

President & CEO Dennis Darby: “Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters is encouraged to see the Government of Canada take action on our pre-budget recommendation for industry-led superclusters. This is a concrete step to energize Canada’s economy through innovation and to incentivize the commercialization of new ideas. The superclusters strategy will increase Canadian manufacturers’ global competitiveness and, in turn, will lead to economic growth.”

“Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters congratulates the successful bids and each of the businesses, researchers, workers, and organizations that have joined forces to increase Canada’s competitiveness. Manufacturers are pleased to see the government is recognizing the important contributions of our sector to the Canadian economy by committing to the creation of two manufacturing-led superclusters.”

“This important innovation supercluster initiative is the incentive for the adoption of new technologies nearly one-third of our members have been calling for.”
