2021 Ontario Economic Outlook

Overview

The global economy continues to recover from its deepest recession since the Great Depression in the 1930s. Output collapsed in the first half of 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic took hold. While economic activity picked up quickly following the easing of confinement measures and the initial re-opening of businesses, the recovery has been interrupted by a second wave of COVID-19. Our manufacturing sector faces a long uphill battle to get back to pre-crisis levels.

To help you forecast your business operations and understand what economic opportunities and challenges may lie ahead 2021, CME Chief Economist Alan Arcand will share his Ontario Manufacturing Economic Outlook and the Ontario specific results of our biennial Management Issues Survey. CME’s Management Issues Survey in partnership with Food, Health & Consumer Products of Canada (FHCP), BDO Canada LLP, Ceridian and RBC Royal Bank is the pulse of our manufacturing sector. Learn how your business compares to other Canadian manufacturers’ current operations, strategies and top challenges.
