Overview

Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters will be hosting our 68th Annual Meeting Day on May 29, 2020 at the Best Western PLUS located at 15 Spectacle Lake Drive, Dartmouth, NS. This event provides a tremendous opportunity to network with members of the manufacturing and export community within the Nova Scotia economy, in an informal and friendly setting.

Leadership Award | Women in Manufacturing

The Women in Manufacturing Leadership award recognizes women in manufacturing that have demonstrated measured results in improving their organization. They have demonstrated strong leadership and mentoring abilities, that they demonstrated use in business, professional and community activities. Committed to innovative approaches to achieving results, sharing of best practices and “world class” in developing solutions, the selected individual is known for their game changer way of achieving results (business or community).

General Criteria:

The following criteria will be used to select the award recipient. You may select a minimum of three criteria to respond. Rationale addressing one or more of the award’s criteria as outlined below (in 500 words or less)

• Delivered measurable business impact through their efforts

• Tackled business problems and obstacles with determination and creativity

• Applied innovative thinking to push boundaries and find new and better ways to do things (work or community)

• Personally committed to supporting their community through active participation

• Consistently demonstrated exceptional and progressive leadership

• Displayed sound financial management and acumen

• Mentored and inspired others striving for success

• Nominees represent “game changers”

Leadership Award | Safety in Manufacturing

The Safety in Manufacturing Leadership award recognizes organization who have demonstrated best practice in the prevention of workplace injury and leadership in fostering a culture of workplace safety.

General Criteria:

The following criteria will be used to select the award recipient. You may select a minimum of three criteria to respond. Rationale addressing one or more of the award’s criteria as outlined below (in 500 words or less)

• Demonstrated injury reduction strategies that have yielded measurable results. Metrics and KPI’s are available to guide the organization towards improvement

• A strong Safety Culture is evident throughout the organization. Accountability for safety taken at all levels of the organization (Leadership to the shop floor).

• The organization demonstrates it has taken innovative ways to improve its safety performance/culture

• An effective Safety Management system in in place, which includes Hazard Identification, Incident Reporting, and Return to Work/Alternate work programs

• Utilize Continuous Improvement methodologies to improve safety performance

• Consistently demonstrated exceptional and progressive leadership

• Mentor and inspire other organizations in improving their safety performance

Leadership Award | Innovation

The Innovation award recognizes those that are firmly committed to in an ongoing system of innovation in their enterprise and are “world class” in developing solutions. Nominees represent “game changing” innovations in processes, products and services.

General Criteria:

The following criteria will be used in to selecting the award recipient. Rationale addressing one or more of the award’s criteria as outlined below (in 500 words or less).

• Well established system of innovation and/or continuous improvement processes that engages all aspects of the business, including human and financial resources

• Innovation is “focused on breakthrough, transformative, far end of the spectrum innovation as opposed to the incremental” types of change

• Innovation leading towards increased competitive differentiation and continuous improvement at an industry or business level

• Track record of solving problems using R & D to maximize profits

• Business planning includes targets growth through innovation and continuous improvement processes

• Expanded their business models by creating new and innovative ways to serve and support their customers

• Developed processes and embrace advanced technologies and processes, enabling them to consistently and predictably bring new products to market and innovate within their four walls. Measure, track and report innovation and continuous improvement metrics

Awards will be presented during the 68th CME Annual Meeting Day on May 29, 2020 at The Best Western Dartmouth.
