Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters will be hosting our Annual Manufacturing Day 2019 on Thursday, March 28 in Fredericton, NB. CME’s Manufacturing Day provides a tremendous opportunity to network with members of the manufacturing and export community within the New Brunswick economy, in an informal and friendly setting.
New Brunswick’s economy is dependent on manufacturing and exporting as our sector is responsible for 91 percent of provincial exports and nearly 31,000 direct jobs in the province.
We would like to take this opportunity to personally invite you to this celebration that will bring together industry, government and stakeholders of manufacturing and exporting in New Brunswick.
The day will include:
- The Speaker Series – an afternoon filled with industry and stakeholder speakers discuss topics such as Advanced Manufacturing, Exporting in 2019, New Brunswick’s manufacturing outlook, and Cannabis in the workplace
- Networking Reception with industry and stakeholders
- Supper with Keynote Speaker – Hon. Blaine Higgs, Premier, President of the Executive Council

Hon. Blaine Higgs
President of the Executive Council
First elected to the Legislative Assembly on September 27, 2010, Blaine Higgs served as Minister of Finance from 2010 to 2014. He was re-elected in 2014 and again in 2018 representing the riding of Quispamsis.
On October 22, 2016, he was elected leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of New Brunswick. Mr. Higgs was sworn in as Premier of New Brunswick on November 9, 2018.
Born in Woodstock, he graduated from the University of New Brunswick with a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering. Following university, he joined Irving Oil Ltd., where he held numerous positions of increasing responsibility in engineering, refining operations, and in the transportation sector.
Prior to retirement in May 2010, he was Director of Logistics and Distribution, 7 He also served on the Board of Directors for Canaport LNG and the New Brunswick Gateway Council.
OPENING REMARKS: Dennis Darby
Dennis joined CME in 2017 after nine years as CEO of the Ontario Pharmacists’ Association and a 24 year-long career in senior management at Procter & Gamble, including leadership roles in the US and Europe.<p>
Dennis graduated from McMaster University in 1984 with a degree in Chemical Engineering and Management, and he is a registered Professional Engineer in Ontario. He is an accredited corporate director, having received his ICD.D designation in 2011. He has served on a number of industry and charity boards as both director and Chair.
