CME’s virtual Shop Talks series connects front line leaders and supervisors, providing a forum to exchange information, ideas and insights. Participants gather for topical learning and a facilitated discussion. The peer-driven discussion ensures a high level of commitment and accountability which in turn offers invaluable key takeaways and innovative solutions.

SEPTEMBER 29, 2021 - PROBLEM SOLVING 5 WHY's

We all know problems are costly and disruptive. Their impact often affects other areas and departments – even entire operations. With so many tools and strategies for solving problems already in our toolbox, why do we still struggle? This interactive session will guide participants on how and where to apply the Fishbone and 5 Why’s approach to problem solving to improve operations and employee engagement.

With 15+ years of experience leading operations departments, Stephanie understands the challenges of developing efficient sustainable processes. In her role as facilitator, she supports two consortiums of manufacturing companies in Manitoba who have the mission to become world class. Stephanie is Blackbelt Certified in Lean Manufacturing and is passionate about continuous improvement.

OCTOBER 27, 2021 - WORK LIFE BALANCE (PRESENTED BY WIM)

Consider these two statements: “my greatest achievement is my family” and “being promoted is a key goal”.  Both statements use the same 24-hour day. What is a good level of work life balance? Why is this important and how do you know when you’re in balance?  Just when you thought you had an answer, COVID, Work From Home (WFH) and more have all added new complications. This session will help you break it down and find your new equilibrium.

DECEMBER 15, 2021 - COMMUNICATION EMAIL MANAGEMENT AND ETIQUETTE

North American workers receive an average of 126 emails a day, which makes breaking through the clutter a challenge. With email use on the rise during the pandemic as those who can transition again to Work From Home (WFH) arrangements, writing persuasive emails has never been more important. This session will help participants learn the structure, etiquette and tips and tricks to write successful emails.

Pam Grahame, Manufacturing Leadership Professional

 

Pam is a manufacturing leader with more than three decades of experience in the industry. Through the Ask the Lady in the Hard Hat series and her work with CME, Pam provides the benefit of her extensive experience to frequently asked questions from women in manufacturing on how to navigate an exciting and at times challenging career path in Canada’s largest economic sector.

Warren Peters, CME Lean Facilitator

 

Over the course of a 20-year career in the manufacturing sector, Warren has steadily assumed more senior roles, including operational responsibility for multiple plants across Canada. His experience from the shop floor to the boardroom provide him with a valuable perspective from which to provide guidance, coaching, facilitation and training services. Warren is Lean Blackbelt Certified, Kata trained through the University of Michigan and maintains a number of other certifications, including 4 Disciplines of Execution (Franklin Covey), Safety Management, Leadership for Excellence, Safety Auditor Training and WHIMS (COR).
