Innovation and Employer Engagement in Apprenticeship is a federal pilot program to address skilled labour shortages in trade professions by engaging under-represented groups. It gives manufacturers the opportunity to offer placements to women, indigenous and/or at risk youth and grow its workforce.
The training sessions last from 8 to 16 weeks depending on location and trade and, new cohorts are available throughout the year until October 2020.
WHY INNOVATION AND EMPLOYER ENGAGEMENT IN APPRENTICESHIP
Organization that participated to the Innovation and Employer Engagement in Apprenticeship will:
- Have access to entry-level employees who have already completed the necessary background training necessary to hit the ground running.
- Be given the opportunity to pre-screen employees by offering a temporary placement.
- Shape the development of this pilot into to a full-fledged program by providing feedback.

Any manufacturer located in Nova Scotia, Winnipeg or British Columbia’s Lower Mainland who are experiencing skilled labour shortages and, are looking to grow their workforce without having to invest in background training.
