Brian Trainor is a Partner and Managing Director for the M&A and Capital Markets team. During his career, he has completed over 65 successful transactions including strategic business sale mandates, buy-side mandates, MBOs, and private equity sponsored transactions. Brian is also a member of BDO’s Manufacturing & Distribution Transaction Advisory team and heads BDO’s Marketplace initiative. He has led seminars and presentations across Canada focusing on business valuation, succession, and M&A of privately held enterprises. Professional designations and education: Master of Business Administration, Dalhousie (2003) Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA).

 

 

 

Michael Morrow is a Partner and Managing Director in BDO’s Toronto office, and is the National M&A and Capital Markets Leader, with over 15 years of professional experience providing mergers and acquisition (M&A), and capital raising services to private and publicly traded middle market companies in Canada. Michael has successfully closed over one hundred transactions representing more than $2 billion in transaction value. Michael is a member of BDO’s Financial Services team, as well as the firm’s Private Equity Initiative. He has also presented at several events focusing on business succession, M&A and capital raising. Jesus Ballesteros is a Partner in BDO’s Strategy, Value Creation & Analytics practice and has over 20 years of work experience in Canada, the U.S., Mexico, and Chile, with roles in industry, public sector, and professional services. During his 12+ years in professional services, he has advised senior management, business owners, and leadership teams at clients in multiple sectors and private equity to address challenges and opportunities related to growth strategy development, business planning, profitability enhancement, M&A value creation, and operating model transformation. In the M&A context, he has experience in both buy-side and sell-side transactions and in commercial, operational, and synergy diligence, as well as transition management planning. With a wide-ranging business background, Jesus brings a holistic perspective to his work rooted in strategic, financial, and operational analysis. His key sectors of focus include manufacturing, wholesale & distribution; transportation & logistics; agricultural products; and consumer business. Professional designations and education: Master’s degree in business administration (MBA) from the University of British Columbia, B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from ITESM in Mexico

 

Alex Stern is a Director with BDO Canada’s M&A and Capital Markets team, where he advises middle market clients on acquisitions, divestitures, and financing raises. Prior to joining the BDO team, Alex spent three years on the Transaction Advisory Services team at a Big Four firm in Toronto. In this role, he advised public and private clients on business and intangible asset valuations for a variety of contexts, including financial reporting, M&A advisory, litigation, fairness opinions, and corporate reorganizations. Given his focus on the Canadian mid-market, Alex has worked with a number of clients in industries such as manufacturing & distribution, energy, auto, and mining. Additionally, he has experience working with clients in the healthcare, software, telecom, cannabis, retail, and professional services sectors.
