Overview
Manitoba’s manufacturing workplaces are more generationally diverse than ever, creating both opportunities and challenges for team collaboration. Join WIM on March 9th for an interactive workshop designed to strengthen communication and productivity across age groups on the shop floor, in operations, and in leadership roles.
Featuring award-winning speakers and a panel of local manufacturing leaders who will share on-the-ground perspectives on navigating intergenerational teams, plus insights from the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce on building inclusive workplaces that support a stronger manufacturing sector. Lunch and refreshments provided, with time for networking and discussion.

Ilona Dougherty
Leading Expert on Young People and Intergenerational Teams
Businesses, organizations, and governments looking to succeed as demographics shift and the pace of change increases turn to Ilona Dougherty. Her engaging and insightful presentations draw on original interdisciplinary research to support leaders as they build strong intergenerational teams and recruit and retain young talent.
Dougherty is an award-winning social innovator and a respected researcher. As the co-creator and managing director of the Youth and Innovation Project at the University of Waterloo, her work is often featured in the media, including the Globe and Mail, the Financial Post, The New York Times, CTV, Global, and CBC, among many others. Dougherty has also advised several companies including the Royal Bank of Canada, the Government of Canada, Recipe Unlimited, the Coaching Association of Canada, YMCA Canada, and many more.
Dougherty has extensive leadership and governance experience having co-founded and led several organizations. This includes Apathy is Boring, a Canadian non-partisan social enterprise that Dougherty co-founded at the age of 23 to educate youth about democracy and encourage them to vote.
Named one of the “Top 100 Most Powerful Women” in Canada by the Women’s Executive Network, Dougherty has been recognized with the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, a Global Ashoka Fellowship, and a Yukon Women’s Award. Dougherty is fully bilingual and delivers presentations in both English and French.

Wayne Dinzey is a digital transformation consultant with over 25 years of experience helping organizations modernize their operations through ERP systems, automation, and custom software solutions. He has led implementation projects for companies ranging from growing SMEs to large enterprises, with particular expertise in RFID, barcoding, and integrated business process design.
Wayne is the President of DPD Software Ltd., founded in Winnipeg in 1992, which has grown into an international solutions provider serving clients across Canada, the United States, and the Caribbean. He also leads Canada Overdrive Online, an ISP supporting digital infrastructure initiatives.
Today, Wayne focuses on bridging traditional ERP systems with emerging AI technologies, including large language models, to make enterprise data more accessible and actionable for business leaders.
Karen Insley
Owner, Clover Honey Pot
Karen is a regenerative beekeeper, farmer, and product formulator who integrates sustainable agriculture with Canadian manufacturing and wellness innovation through regenerative farming practices.
An award-winning entrepreneur, she operates a honeybee farm and has developed an apitherapy-based skincare line using hive-derived cosmeceutical ingredients alongside botanicals, herbs, wildflowers, and plants grown regeneratively on her acreage; sourcing additional ingredients from ethical Manitoba and Canadian small business suppliers who are also committed to sustainable and regenerative practices.
With medical, surgical, and emotional training in colorectal cancer care, along with certifications in holistic dermal nutrition, cancer nutrition, and psychosocial health coaching, Karen brings a unique perspective to product development by connecting environmental sustainability, supply chain integrity, with consumer health; and her work supports whole-body wellness through both topical and internal health strategies.
Karen’s work demonstrates how regenerative agriculture and small-scale manufacturing can create high-quality, globally competitive Canadian wellness products while reducing environmental impact, supporting biodiversity, and promoting pollinator health.
Shannon Tara Kalić, BSc, MMEd.
Owner, Waabishki Miigwan Creations
Shannon Tara Kalić (she/her) is a beadworker, workshop facilitator, and anti-racism educator with Métis, French, Ukrainian, and Polish heritage from Winnipeg, Manitoba. She began beading in 2016 as a way to connect with her Métis roots, and discovered a passion for creating beaded accessories such as earrings, hats, necklaces, and more. She began her business Waabishki Miigwan Creations in January 2021, leading beading and anti-racism workshops and creating beadwork accessories. Her previous career involved educational program development and interpretation at parks, zoos, Indigenous organizations, and outdoor environments in Manitoba, Alberta, and British Columbia, focusing on natural and geological history and Indigenous cultures.

Priti Shah
PRAXIS Consulting
Priti Shah has been doing public speaking for more than 30 years and brings a diverse personal and professional background to her engaging and inspiring presentations. She is a lawyer, mediator, arbitrator, investigator and facilitator and operates PRAXIS Consulting in Winnipeg. She is widely known and highly respected for her work in the areas of dispute resolution, human rights, governance and organizational development.
Priti has travelled to 71 countries and represented the Government of Canada and the Organization for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights in September 1998 as an observer of the parliamentary elections in Bosnia & Herzegovina. She is committed to international development and travelled to Fiji in 2018 to complete her eighth Habitat build. In May 2005, Priti was awarded the Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Award for Contribution to Community from the Women Business Owners of Manitoba.
Priti has performed in thirteen community plays with the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre. She is passionate about health, fitness, music, arts and enjoying the beautiful people and geography of Canada.
