ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

To be eligible to participate in the Program, an applicant must meet the eligibility criteria set out by the Ministry, which may include but not be limited to, the criteria set out in this section.

ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS

To be considered eligible for both Phases of the Program, applicants must:  

 

  • Be a growth-oriented food, beverage, or seafood * processor in B.C. seeking long term improvements to expand sales, production and marketing reach. Growth-oriented processors must demonstrate production capacity and scalability, financial capacity and management capacity to take on new orders or enter into new domestic or international market channels.  
  • Seafood processors will be eligible for funding under Intake 1 of this Program only.  
  • Have business gross revenue of a minimum of $500,000 and a maximum of $6,000,000 for the past two (2) years.  
  • Have four (4) or more employees.  
  • Have at least 50% of direct production costs occur in B.C.  
  • Be a processor that produces a final product that undergoes one of the following activities performed in a commercial food and/or beverage manufacturing facility located in BC, for the purpose of sales and distribution: General physical alterations: grinding beef, milling wheat, crushing tomatoes, shredding cheese, chopping cucumbers, etc. and/or 
  • Extending shelf life: freezing, canning, drying, pickling, smoking, fermenting, etc. and/or  combining ingredients to make a new product: Baking muffins, making pizza, blending juice, mixing salad greens, etc. 
  • The following are not considered processing (with the exception of any of these being combined with one of the activities above):
    • Cleaning  
    • Washing  
    • Bagging  
    • Packaging and/or wrapping  

Be able to provide a minimum contribution in cash as follows:

  • Participants must contribute $5,000.

Ineligible Participants

  • Facilities solely dedicated to packing, cleaning, bagging, handling and/or storing of primary products  
  • Retail food services or operations
    • Restaurants and food service, including catering services  
  • Packaging material manufacturers   

PROGRAM TIMELINE

  • Intake Opens: March 15, 2026 
  • Phase 1 Delivery: Following intake approval 
  • Phase 2 Applications: After completion of Phase 1 

Space is limited and allocated based on eligibility and readiness.
