Hauser Industries Inc. – Elevating Outdoor Living
Known for manufacturing high-end patio furniture, including chairs, tables, pergolas, planters, and seating units, Hauser Industries Inc. stands as a premier provider in both the commercial and residential markets.
On the commercial side, Hauser directly collaborates and sells to the developers of commercial plazas, condo units and office towers. On the residential side, their sister company Hauser Company Stores Inc., boasts retail locations in Waterloo, London, Burlington, and Ottawa, offering the public direct access to their products.
Championing Technological Advancement
Proudly participating in CME’s Technology Investment Program, funded by the Government of Canada through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), Hauser embarked on a transformative journey.
Through this initiative, Hauser acquired and installed a state-of-the-art automated laser cutting machine.
While the older equipment could only cut “mild steel” up to 1/8 inch in thickness, in a significant change, the new equipment can cut steel, aluminum, stainless steel, and copper up to 5/8 inch thick.
Recognizing the Substantial Impact
Upon delving into the new technology, the Hauser team recognized a myriad of ongoing benefits, including the streamlining of production processes. The introduction of the laser cutting machine successfully eliminated cumbersome tasks, such as loading metal skids and feeding metal sheets, which used to demand 216 and 542 minutes per month, respectively, resulting in a significant time savings.
The new equipment also accelerates production, saving a substantial 5,200 minutes per month compared to the old machine. The integration of the laser, replacing their former plasma machine, results in an additional monthly time savings of 3,467 minutes.
With the cutting process now handled in-house, a task previously outsourced due to capacity constraints, Hauser enjoys an average monthly savings of approximately $4,000.
This newfound efficiency enabled Hauser to create three additional jobs to handle their increased capacity.
A Promising Future
Hauser’s enthusiastic adoption of technology has not only streamlined their production processes but has also expanded their opportunities for diversifying their product portfolio.
The company remains committed to exploring further innovations, ensuring they stay at the forefront of manufacturing capabilities to meet the ever-evolving needs of their customers.
