Letter to the Prime Minister on the Trans Mountain Expansion Project
A letter was sent to the Prime Minister calling for federal government action.
On behalf of Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME), the members of the National Board and our roughly 2,500 direct members across the country, we are writing to you regarding the recent decision of Kinder Morgan Canada to suspend all non-essential activities and spending on the Trans Mountain Expansion Project. We are urging the federal government to intervene in this issue and help get the Trans Mountain Expansion Project built.
Kinder Morgan’s regrettable decision reinforces the need for immediate and decisive action from the federal government and for the development of a strong and effective national framework to support pipeline and energy development across Canada.
The Trans Mountain Expansion Project is critical for our economy and for the hundreds of thousands of Canadians that are directly and indirectly employed by the sector to continue to develop and export our resources. Without access to foreign markets, Canadian manufacturers cannot capitalize on the significant opportunities of our natural resource sector.
