The Health and Safety Excellence Program (HSEP) is a WSIB performance-based recognition program designed to make your workplace safer. By joining HSEP, you can:

REBATE STRUCTURE
The program has 41 topics to choose from spread across three levels – foundation, intermediate and advanced. We will help you choose and implement the topics that make sense for your business.
The amount you earn in rebates is based on the number of topics you complete and your WSIB premiums for the previous year. Plus, you will receive an extra $1,000 every time you join and create a new health and safety action plan.
PROGRAM DURATION
- Each cycle of the topics you select (5 max.) runs for 365 days.
- Registration is open year-round – join at any time!

Based on topics completed per cycle (the total period of time to complete the approved selected topics (max. is 365 days).

ELIGIBILITY
- Companies require an active WSIB account to be eligible.
- Both Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 firms can participate; however, financial rebates are available for Schedule 1 firms only.
- Companies must be in good standing with the WSIB.
- Each WSIB account can join independently (e.g., subsidiaries with separate WSIB accounts).
FRENCH AVAILABILITY
We offer the Health and Safety Excellence program in English only. To find a provider that offers the full program in French, please contact the WSIB at healthandsafetyexcellence@wsib.on.ca and they’ll recommend the provider(s) that best matches your needs.
