Advanced Manufacturing Cluster Newfoundland & Labrador (AMC NL)

OVERVIEW

In 2021, CME NL worked with Next Generation Manufacturing Canada (NGen) on a research initiative that identified barriers and constraints to the adoption of Advanced Manufacturing (AM) in Newfoundland and Labrador (NL), as well as strategies to help NL companies with their AM goals through collaboration and knowledge sharing. The outcome of this initiative was the Advanced Manufacturing Cluster Newfoundland and Labrador (AMC NL), a group that drives and supports AM innovation across our province.

RESEARCH REPORT: The State of Advanced Manufacturing in NL

In 2021, CME NL worked closely with NGen (Next Generation Manufacturing Canada) to develop an applied research initiative to find new ways for CME NL and others to improve the Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) manufacturing and processing sector with an emphasis on advanced manufacturing (AM) adoption. The study’s goal was to highlight how to help accelerate the growth of AM in the province. Specifically, to improve understanding of the factors that hinder or help advanced manufacturing adoption for NL manufacturers and processors. The project collected qualitative data by interviewing twenty-eight individuals associated with 28 manufacturers and processors of various types and sizes and varying degrees of AM experience.
