In the heart of Brantford, Ontario, a Canadian success story is unfolding at Tamsco Food Systems Inc. Since its inception in 1994 as a poultry trading company, Tamsco has blossomed into a beacon of innovation and unwavering quality.

A Family Business with a Vision

More than a business, Tamsco is a testament to the spirit of a wholly Canadian-owned family business.

In a pivotal move in 1999, Tamsco moved its operations to its current 12,000 sq. ft. facility. This marked the beginning of a new chapter as Tamsco transitioned into a processor of healthy, low sodium, top-quality, flame-grilled Canadian food products, and fully cooked entrée food products.

As a licensed processor of pork, chicken, beef, and fish, Tamsco has become a trusted name in the food service, hospitality, health care, and retail food industries.

Embracing Transformative Technology

Tamsco is a proud participant of CME’s Technology Investment Program, funded by the Government of Canada through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario).

As a result of this program, Tamsco embarked on a forward-thinking project involving the installation of a new boiler.

Embracing Transformative Technology

The outcomes were profound, resulting in positive changes such as reduced labour costs, increased production capacity, reduced electricity and water consumption per unit produced, optimized heat usage per unit, and a notable decrease in defect and rework rates.

Anticipating Future Success

While this project is recent, Tamsco is optimistic about its long-term impact. Their conversative estimates predict the creation of two jobs over the next two years, an annual savings of $24,000 in labour and $4,200 in quality improvements, coupled with an additional throughput value of $60,000.

A Vision for the Future

This project is one of many initiatives that Tamsco has undertaken to transform and automate several of its processes to increase flexibility, efficiency, capacity, while gaining a competitive edge. They are in the process of developing new product lines such as whole roasted chickens, new clients and actively pursuing new opportunities in the Canadian and US Markets.

As the company continues to evolve and grow, one thing is certain – Tamsco’s journey is far from over, and its impact on the food processing landscape is bound to be enduring.
