CME provides all qualifying applicants a Qualified Service Provider (QSP) to conduct technology assessments as part of the Technology Assessment Program. All QSPs will be trained and vetted using CME’s technology assessment tool. This tool has been developed and tested with Canadian manufacturers over the past several years and is designed to bring valuable insights to participant’s production and technology adoption journey. CME provides a list of eligible QSPs for all applicants to choose from. If an applicant prefers an assessor that is not a vetted CME QSP, we encourage the applicant to complete the Call for QSP form; which can be found on the Technology Assessment Program page on CME’s website. CME will review the application against predetermined criteria and add the assessor to the list if approved. CME reserves the right to approve or reject based on predetermined criteria.


  • The qualified service provider is required to provide an initial assessment proposal to the applicant that will include the type of assessment to be conducted, process of the assessment, context, the time frame, a breakdown of the costs, and expected outcomes of the completed assessment.
  • This proposal must be submitted by the applicant along with their application for an on-site assessment. It is important that the proposal provides enough detail of the assessment to allow CME to base a decision of approval to proceed.
  • Upon completion of the assessment, a final report must be submitted to the applicant. This report shall include the report of findings during the assessment and recommendations for further improvements. Recommendations included should align with FedDev’s Targeted Manufacturing Initiative for Southern Ontario which will allow the company to further apply for funding under the program.
