The program provides direct financial assistance to SME manufacturers (15 to 500 employees) in southern Ontario in the form of a matching contribution of up to $50,000 (a maximum of 50% of eligible costs, which can include capital equipment, materials, training on new equipment, installation of new equipment, professional service fees as well as a company’s direct labour devoted to the completion and management of the project up to $50,000) to support the investment in long-term production assets and technology that increase capacity and reduce emissions on production.

Technologies may include: robotics; artificial intelligence and other machine learning applications; and advanced networks and the Internet of Things. Please note: investments in ERP systems and general training are not covered under this program. Investments beginning April 1, 2022 (retroactive projects in long-term production assets and technology may be eligible for funding). Implementation of the long-term production assets and technology must be completed by December 31, 2023.

Upon receipt of the completed application, CME and our Industry Experts will review the information and may ask for supporting documents from the applicant. Eligibility will be determined based on the documentation provided by the applicant in conformance to the eligibility criteria. The applicant will be advised if their application is approved within 45 business days from date of submission.

STEP 2

A CME representative will contact approved applicants and provide a copy of the Contribution Agreement (contract). Applicants will receive 20% of approved funding 30 business days from the date of the signed contribution agreement.

STEP 3

Once the approved project is complete, applicants will be required to complete a Final Report and Expense Claim Form, which will identify the budgeted expenses you submitted as part of your original application. Any significant variations (up or down) in actual expenses will need to be justified and approved by CME.

Necessary forms to submit your final report and claim will be provided by CME. Once the final report and documentation have been received, they will be reviewed for final approval. The applicant will receive their final payment (80% of approved funding) within 30-60 business days of the approval date.
