Lawrence O. Pollard (Pollard Banknote Limited)

Lawrence O. Pollard joined his family’s printing business, Saults & Pollard, in 1947. By 1974 the company had changed its name to Pollard Banknote Limited and by 1978, it prepared to enter the highly competitive lottery and break open ticket industry. In 1984, Lawrie Pollard bought out the family-owned business, assuming 100 per cent ownership of all common shares and advanced Pollard Banknote’s success in the growing instant lottery ticket printing industry.

Lawrie Pollard graduated from the Dunwoody Industrial Institute of Printing Management in Minneapolis after leaving The University of Manitoba. He is past national president of the Canadian Graphic Arts Industries Association and was on its executive for 10 years. He has also been president of the Winnipeg Graphic Arts Association.

At age 45, Lawrie was the youngest president Winnipeg’s Chamber of Commerce has had. He was named Manitoba’s Entrepreneur of the Year in 1991.
