CME Welcomes Revenue Recycling Mechanism for SMEs

Manufacturers are pleased the government put in place a framework to re-invest carbon tax revenues for SMEs  in provinces where the federal price on pollution applies: Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and New Brunswick. While the Climate Action Incentive Fund and Low Carbon Economy Fund Partnerships only re-allocates a small fraction of the revenues collected,  it is a step in the right direction.

CME firmly believes that creating incentives for businesses to invest in new technologies and to innovate is the most effective approach for the government to meet its environmental and economic goals for industry.

CME is involved in the External Advisory Committee that will provide practical advice to help refine and improve the ongoing delivery of Climate Action Incentive Fund programs. We look forward to work with the government to implement and review this program and, find solution for revenue recycling on a larger scale.
